Malachi's First Fishing Trip

Yesterday I had the fun opportunity to go fishing with my parents, son, and husband out at
our family friends' pond. Originally it was just going to be the men going, but I'm glad I ended up tagging
along because it was a blast. Malachi had SO much fun "fishing", riding Go-Kart's with Alexander/Stephen, playing with Buster (the dog), and watching all the barn animals talk. Their property is basically HEAVEN for a little boy. Malachi laid down on the couch as soon as we got home and racked out almost instantly.
Definitely excited to cook up the 2 Trout that "Malachi caught"

Becoming a better mom

  Sensory Play

Ever since Malachi turned two, I've had a hard time figuring out what to do with him. Seeing that he's our first kid every milestone he enters is new to me. He can talk which means he has an opinion about EVERYTHING. Being a boy he tends to get really hyper and destructive when he's cooped up for too long.

Yesterday when I was blog browsing I stumbled upon this mom's entry where she wrote about her daily life. She is also a stay at home mom who is trying to find ways to keep her little ones occupied and learning. She had this awesome Idea to make an activity schedule.

monday: abc’s and letter recognition, how to spell their names.
tuesday: numbers and number recognition
wednesday: learning how to lace string through holes
thursday: sensory play
friday: water play

Why hadn't I thought of that! So today I set out to go buy some supplies I'd be needing. I had to go to 3 different stores but ended up getting exactly what I was looking for! I am REALLY looking forward to having/keeping this schedule and to watch Malachi's growth. He is having SO much fun playing in the dirt/mud that it makes my heart smile. I will continue to post pictures and stories for all of you to read and even recreate for your little ones.

Here is a blog I found via pinterest that has some really neat sensory themed ideas. I went to Target, Dollar Tree, and Michael's for all of my supplies. I still can't believe I didn't think of all of this on my own considering I learned ALL about this in a child development class! I guess I can't be super mom and be all over everything lol.
